When Angie and I decided to take a little blog-cation the week of Christmas, we really anticipated coming back after Christmas to share our holiday fun, food, and family.
Christmas came so fast and honestly, I was enjoying all the time my husband was home, my daughter out of school, and my little boy playing with his lightsaber.
I could not have asked for a more perfect holiday.
We traveled to Santa’s Wonderful, the Polar Express, cut down a real Christmas tree and decorated it in the hotel.
We baked tons of goodies for friends and neighbors…and probably ate more than we should of.
We spent way too much money at the movies.
We enjoyed the cold Christmas weather staying warm and cozy inside with lots of popcorn and yummy treats. (recipe tomorrow!)
Watching my 3 year old this year scream with excitement opening presents was so much fun. And giving my 9 year old a Baby Alive and seeing the pure amazement that she really got one was priceless.
She got a Baby Alive many years ago and never, ever played with it. She was actually afraid of it. So this year, when she asked for a Baby Alive, I initially thought ‘no way I am spending another penny on a baby that poops and pees. But then I looked at her, and thought she will be 10 years old soon…and the days of her asking for a baby doll are almost over…I ran out and bought the Baby Alive complete with food and juice, diapers and clothes. And I honestly think that Baby Alive was the best gift she received this year.
We spent so much time together as a family this holiday, I am so very sad to see it end. I have tears as I type this right now.
Back to the daily hustle and bustle.
I think this holiday really set a new path for our family. For that, I am so very thankful.
Do you make New Year Resolutions?
I am not really one to make a resolution but more to look back and think about what I can do better. For my marriage, my husband, my children, my family, my friendships…and for myself.
To be brave…and not worry about what others think.
To take that leap of faith…knowing those little whispers are being heard for a reason.
To be intentional…from the moment I wake to the moment I sleep.
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year. And I hope 2012 brings you joy and happiness!
